Easter and Finals

Today was a bittersweet day:
It started off sweet with a 4.6k run that took me 17 minutes *that's good for me since i'm not a runner.*

Then it turned bitter: I met up with a girl from one of my classes to study for our exam and left feeling more confused about the exam.

Things went back to sweet when I bought this great new iced tea that comes in a funky glass bottle!

China Mist Unsweetened Black Tea, Dragon Fruit!

Me and my runners, lounging, waiting for the library to open
I celebrated Easter with my family at my dads house. He cooked up some veggies, sweet potatoes and salmon. He knows what I like, clearly!
Tomorrow is my final day to study until my 2 exams on Tuesday.
Report back to you Tuesday! Hope you all had a great Easter weekend full of good eats and great times spent with family/friends! :)

18 Degrees and Sunny!

At LAST! It's nice out! Before I head off to spin, I wanted to share the bar I just bought...that tastes like SNICKERS!

If you are looking for a protein bar that doesn't taste like chalk, this bar is your new BFF! SO GOOD!

Hope everyone has a great Easter Weekend (if you celebrate!) If not, have a wonderful weekend otherwise! I am going to be studying all weekend, and going for dinner at my dad's house tomorrow night with my brothers.

Happy Saturday! I am off to teach my 12pm spin class, this time I learned how to use the fans! No "hot spin class' anymore *fewf*!

TA TA FOR NOW! xoxo

Last week of studying!

This week has been less productive than I had hoped.
Teaching spin twice a week mixed with doctors appointments (I am type 1 diabetic) and getting ready to haul-ass (move) has really limited my time to STUDY!

I am hoping that this Easter weekend will allow me to buckle down and hit the books. I've got LOTS to memorize (History of Rome exam) and (History of Caribbean exam).

Have you got any special study tips that help you out? I need a quick fix... does that exist?
I have been a good student and formed 2 study groups for my exams. We are going to get together and all discuss things we may not be clear about for the exam--here's to hoping they are productive study sessions and not just chatter about how crazy our prof is ;)

Moving on to the good stuff:
Can you guess which one I bought?

New Multi Vitamin, thanks mom!
I ended up buying Cinnamon Swirl! Chunks of raisins and swirled cinnamon sure sounded good to me--and I wasn't disappointed!
I also ran out of my regular Multi-Vitamin, and thanks to my mom (who works at a health shop/pharmacy) got hooked up with MULTI BASICS 3! The only thing that stinks about this vitamin is the fact that you've gotta take 3 pills (1 serving)! I am used to 'daily 1' ... but I guess I shouldn't complain here. It's better to have vitamins than not... especially at $53 dollars! Yikes!

Off to 2 back-to-back study sessions (snore), wish me luck!

Have a great day everyone! Stay tuned ... ;)

Hormones and Chocolate

"Chocolate" Goodness

I had SUCH a strong craving for something chocolate-y yesterday, then realized why.
I decided to go with the healthiest fake food I could find (and even this wasn't at the top of my healthy -food list)!
This bar has 10g of protein which is pretty good, but 12g of sugar! Tasted like a candy bar that's been jazzed up to look healthy.
I have learned my lesson, next time I have a chocolate craving go straight to the source and buy 80-90% real cacao!

Spin class last night was SO SWEATY! The fans weren't working, we steamed up the mirrors inside the room. Enough said. People loved it though, despite looking like they just stepped out of a pool ;)
Off to the gym for some time with the lovely weights!
Have a great day!

The Studio!

Balancing Stress of Exams with Exercise and Nutrition

The last month has been FULL of non-stop essay writing and exam studying. NOT fun to say the least.

Luckily, I find exercise is the perfect way to get out any stress that I have.
Eating well is important to fuel my brain for the books and body for my exercise.
Lately i've been teaching Spin classes and doing weights. I have also been trying to get ready for my 5k Diabetes run that is happening May 15th!

Here are a few pics of the latest and greatest meals and treats in my life:

Salmon and Asparagus. Full of Omega 3's! Brain food! YUM

Thanks for the treats VEGA! Much needed protein for my workouts!

Lunch from LIVE organic, raw zucchini salad with kale and pesto!

Stay turned for more good-ness.
I gotta head out to teach my 6:30pm spin class, I added a few new songs to my playlist including my new obsession OMG -Far East Movement feat. Snoop Dogg!
